Taking care of "loose ends" before we go to China...

A couple of weeks ago we had an issue with flooding during one of our summer monsoons. The drainage and grading that we had done for the addition to our house turned out to be inadequate (yes, Amy was right...again) and we ended up having water seep into our back door and onto our wood flooring. So, before we left for China it was up to Dillon and me to dig out a bigger drainage pond around the back end of our house. It took us about four (4) hours, but we've finally made the home safe from flooding (we hope!).

Now we get to look forward to replacing the wood flooring when we get back!

  1. Great pics.. Looks like something out of the REAL Great Depression!
Dillon: we had talked about having you all dressed up in "treanch warfare fashion" for those pics, complete with TonkaTruck kid helmet and nerf machine gun. Well, shovels are just as good indeed!

  2. SORRY THAT HAPPENED ON YOUR NEW FLOORS. I KNOW AMY IS LIKE ME WHEN IT COMES TO BEING EXTRA CAUTIOUS AND BEING UPSET WHEN THINGS DON'T GO RIGHT. SO TO AMY I SAY- I'M SORRY AND I FEEL YOUR PAIN AND FRUSTRATION. TO TRISTAN I SAY- THE I TOLD YOU SO'S WILL BE OVER SOON. (AMY IS MUCH MORE FORGIVING THAN I WOULD BE TO TY- HAHA)
